Dear friends,
Up to 12:00pm, May 26, 14 days after the quake, a total of 65,080 people are
reported death, and another 23,150 are report injured (Source: Press Office,
State Council)
The strongest aftershock since the 8.0-magnitude quake of may 12 hit at 4:21 pm
with Qinchuan County being the epicenter. 6 people were reported died and over a
thousand injured.
Amity staff rushed to Qingchuan, the epicenter of the aftershock today. Need
based assessment is being made at the moment to development concrete plans of
help.
Mr. Ye Xiaoxiang, Director of Amity Yunnan Office and Mr. Cai Chunbo, project
officer arrived in Mianzhu last night and joined the rest Amity staff on the
ground. Discussions were made to plan the relief work further.
At the headquarters, Amity is in urgent contact with NGOs in Shanghai to raise
babies napkins and powdered rice for children identified in the group work with
the volunteer professors for counseling. 20,000 boxes of babies napkins will be
dispatched to Mianzhu soon.

I'd like to share with you our fund-raising activities conducted this
afternoon.
Professor Wu Weishan, a famous sculptor, who was invited to sculpt for
Beatrix, the Dutch Queen and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo,the Philippino
President will hold an interactive communication with the sculpture fans and
readers on May 24th at the Pioneer bookstore in Nanjing. On the occasion,
Professor Wu Weishan is to sign his work “Wu Weishan’s Painting Sculpture”,
“Wu Weishan’s Enjoyable Sculpture” and “The Poetic of Sculpture”,
which were
awarded as “The most pleasing book” in succession of 2005, 2006 and 2007.
All the income will be contributed to the Amity Foundation for the relief
work in Sichuan Province.
Prof. Wu is a member of China People's Political Consultative Committee,
Director of China Sculpture Academy, Dean of Institute of Fine Arts of
Nanjing University, Honorary phD. of Inje University and doctor advisor in
both Fine Arts and Design Art. He is an expert enjoying Special Government
Subsidy from the State Council and Fellow of Royal British Society of
Sculptors. Prof. Wu has had solo exhibitions in countries and regions such
as UK, USA, Netherlands, Japan, Korea, Hongkong and Macau SAR and Taiwan
region. There is a Wu Weishan Sculpture Garden in Busan, Korea. A permanent
exhibition room named after Prof. Wu has been set up in Nanjing Museum.
There are also Wu Weishan Sculpture Studio and exhibition halls in Macau.
In order to cooperate with Professor Wu Weishan’s charity sale, The
Librairie Avant-Garde bookshop will donate all the sales profit on the day
to Amity Foundation for the relief work in Sichuan Province.
