Chinese government, army soldiers work, doctors, nurses, volunteers hard around the clock, dedicating their lives to save the lives of tens of thousands.
 
At the moment, Amity has a team consisting 3 Amity staff, 2 Amity volunteers from Nanjing and Hong Kong are working along side our partner. 1200 tents have been trucked today to Mianyang ready for distribution tomorrow morning. Mr. Zheng Ye, assistant director of the Integrated rural Development Division stays overnight in Zhong Xin Township, Mianyang City. Total population is 20,000, now over 10,000 people live in the open air. 70-80% of the houses collapsed.
 
Today is the birthday of Mr. Yue Yaomeng. No birthday cake, no candles, no relatives nor close friends around, it has been an unforgettable birthday for Yaomeng for the rest of his life. In Nanjing, many colleagues in the headquarters sent text messages to congratulate his birthday.
 
The World Christian Council Round Table Core Group Meeting finished today at noon time in Nanjing. Condolence was given to the victims of the earthquake. The meeting calls for more support from partner organization to the earthquake relief in China.

American Baptist International Ministries has sent a $5,000 grant to our partner, The Amity Foundation, for immediate relief efforts, after one of the strongest earthquakes to strike China in decades happened Monday, May 12, leaving thousands dead and more missing.
